LGA relaunches the Operation L!STO manual as a comprehensive and integrated approach to disaster preparedness
Manila, Philippines – The Local Government Academy (LGA) has come up with an enhanced version of the Operation L!STO disaster preparedness manual that provides set of minimum progressive response actions before, during and after the typhoon. This is the third version of the Operation L!STO manuals which consolidates the Checklist of Early Preparedness Actions for Mayors, Checklist of Minimum Critical Preparedness Actions for Mayors and Checklist for City/Municipal Local Government Operations Officers, Chief of Police and Fire Marshalls into one reference material.

LGA, OCD extend support to Pasig City RED Training Center
Manila, Philippines – The City Government of Pasig, Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and Local Government Academy (LGA) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) in support of the Rescue Emergency Disaster (RED) Training Center. The RED Training Center is a learning institution established by the city government to fulfill its vision of creating an empowered and resilient community and ensuring emergency and disaster preparedness to address the good and responsive governance needs of the community.

Natural capital, defined as the ‘spectrum of physical assets within the natural environment that deliver economic value through ecosystem services’ (Voora and Venema, 2008), makes up a significant share (36%) of total wealth in developing countries; therefore, realizing it as a critical asset for development (The World Bank: Natural Capital Accounting, 2016). Moreover, significant warming due to climate change will occur in the Philippines with the expected mean temperature to rise by 1.5 to 2.6 degree Celsius over the coming 50 years (WAVES Philippine Country Report 2016).

Expanding Partnerships through the NRC for Local Disaster Resilience
The NRC aims to strengthen capacities of LGUs in ensuring quality plans, through leadership and governance, and to develop and establish critical resilient nature of the four pillars of local government systems namely: human development, local economy, infrastructure, and the environment.
