Japanese and Filipino experts come together to make local government units more globally competitive
MANILA, Philippines – Do local government units (LGUs) have something to learn from international experiences?
If you ask the Local Government Academy (LGA) and the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR), communities can have plenty to learn and share when it comes to development, and this is what they hope to bring out during the Knowledge Exchange Forum 2016 on July 25, 2016 at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria Hotel, Quezon City.
During the event, Japanese and Filipino experts from different sectors will speak about the best practices from their respective areas they can use in their own communities. These will be guided by the theme “Local Government Collaboration towards a Resilient and Sustainable Local Economy” and the following sub-themes:
- Agricultural Technology
- Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction
- Investment and Industrial Promotions
Aside from the plenary sessions wherein the speakers will present case studies and showcase best practices, the Knowledge Café allows participants to participate in group discussions and share their opinions with other members of the group. A common area will be the space for participants to process their insights.
The forum is the first phase of the Knowledge Exchange with the second being an immersion into the LGUs’ Japanese counterparts to learn about their strategies and replicate it in the Philippine context.
