LGA, OCD extend support to Pasig City RED Training CenterMarch 04, 2019
Manila, Philippines – The City Government of Pasig, Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and Local Government Academy (LGA) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) in support of the Rescue Emergency Disaster (RED) Training Center. The RED Training Center is a learning institution established by the city government to fulfill its vision of creating an empowered and resilient community and ensuring emergency and disaster preparedness to address the good and responsive governance needs of the community.
The center features high end facilities that include: Fire Fighting Section and First Aid Training Room; Earthquake Simulation Room; Fire Fighting Simulation; Rescue and Escape Section; Typhoon Simulation Room; First Aid Training Section; Smoke Maze Section; and a Seminar Hall. It will also offer various rescue emergency disaster courses. The facility and its course offerings are open to all LGUs, DILG Offices, CSOs, NGAs, and private institutions.
Under the agreement, the OCD which is the implementing arm of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), recognizes the Pasig City RED Training Center as a DRRM Training Center after the city’s compliance with the requirements contained in relevant guidelines issued by the OCD. Accordingly, the LGA, as the training arm of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, will promote the center to LGUs, DILG offices, and its partner organizations.
OCD Administrator and NDRRMC Executive Director USec. Ricardo B. Jalad, LGA Executive Director Thelma T. Vecina and Pasig City Mayor Robert “Bobby” C. Eusebio signed the MOA in a ceremony held on February 27, 2019 at the C3 Conference Room of the Pasig City Hall. Dir. Susana Jaungco of OCD, Ms. Daphne Purnell of the LGA and Mr. Ritchie Van Angeles of the Pasig City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office were also in attendance to witness the signing ceremony.
